Williams, batting .341 in May, going to WS

Hot-hitting first baseman earns first promotion to High-A Dash

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (May 15, 2015) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted first baseman Tyler (T.J.) Williams to the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash today. In a corresponding move, Kannapolis has reinstated outfielder Hunter Jones from the Disabled List. 

Williams, the son of the White Sox Executive Vic President Ken Williams, is batting .341 (14-41) in May, including a career-high-tying seven-game hitting streak earlier in the month. The Kannapolis first baseman is batting .273 (24-88) with seven doubles, a triple, nine RBI, and a stolen base in 24 games for Kannapolis this season. The 24-year-old infielder spent the 2014 season with the Intimidators, batting .202 with career-highs seven home runs and 39 RBI in 92 games. Williams made his professional debut in 2011 in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization before signing with the White Sox that summer. He first joined Kannapolis to open the 2013 season. The mid-season promotion to High-A Winston-Salem is the first for Williams in his career. 

Jones, 23, appeared in 41 games for Kannapolis in 2014, batting .205 (32-156) with five doubles, a triple, five home runs, 15 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. The speedy centerfielder combined to hit .266 (71-267) with 12 doubles, four triples, nine home runs, 30 RBI, 55 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases in 69 games between the Intimidators and Advanced Rookie Great Falls. Jones recorded a hit in 24 of his 28 games for the Voyagers. Jones' father Tracy played in the Major Leagues from 1986-91 with the Reds, Expos, Giants, Tigers, and Mariners. 

The Intimidators are home tonight for Celebration of Bacon, presented by Smithfield, and the first 500 fans will receive a free sample of bacon. The game will also feature a bacon-eating contest, bacon coupon giveaways, and more.
