Infielder Massey promoted to WS Dash

AZL standout Strong joins Kannapolis from Extended Spring

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 29, 2016) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted infielder Grant Massey to the Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem Dash today. In a corresponding move, the Intimidators have received infielder Brad Strong from Extended Spring Training.

Massey, 23, hit .300 (21-70) with three RBI and seven doubles in 18 games with Kannapolis to open the 2016 campaign. The White Sox selected Massey in the 26th round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Lipscomb. He becomes the fourth Intimidators player to earn a promotion to the Dash this season, joining Danny Mendick, Sean O'Connell, and Louis Silverio.

Strong, 23, made his professional debut with the Arizona League White Sox in 2015, batting .326 (60-184) with 15 doubles, four triples, two home runs, and 31 RBI while scoring 35 runs and stealing 12 bases. He tied for third in the AZL in hits and doubles, ranked fourth in runs scored, and finished fifth in total bases (89) and average. Strong helped lead the AZL White Sox to the league championship, driving in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning of the AZL championship game. He was named to the AZL postseason All-Star Team. The White Sox selected Strong in the 28th round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft out of Western Carolina University where he hit .322 with 20 home runs and 163 RBI in his career. He finished his four-year career as the Catamounts all-time leader in triples (18), and his 65 career stolen bases ranks second in program history.
