LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 29, 2017) - Dylan Cease struck out seven batters, but the Intimidators fell to the Lexington Legends 2-0 on Saturday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Kannapolis (14-21 Second Half, 53-50) saw its pitching staff's scoreless innings streak come to an end at 23, after blanking Lexington in each of the first two games of the series.
Cease (0-3) suffered the loss allowing two runs on three hits and three walks in five frames. Legends starter Ofreidy Gomez (5-9) earned the win striking out eight batters across six scoreless innings while allowing three hits and two walks. Garrett Davila earned the save pitching three scoreless innings.
The game's only runs came in the bottom of the first inning when the Legends put an end to an 18-inning scoreless drought against the Intimidators as Joe Dudek doubled home two. The Intimidators were last scored upon in the top of the fourth inning against Columbia on July 25th.
Kannapolis concludes a four-game road trip on Sunday with the final game of a four-game series at Lexington. First pitch is at 2:05 p.m. as the Intimidators send to the mound RHP Luis Martinez (4-1, 3.28 ERA) against Legends RHP Travis Eckert (4-6, 5.07 ERA).
