  • Easter Egg Hunt Returns To Frawley Stadium

    The Wilmington Blue Rocks will be hosting one of the biggest Easter Egg Hunts in the area as they welcome fans to partake in scrambling for candy filled eggs on the field at Frawley Stadium on Sunday, April 9 prior to the Blue Rocks game.     The Wilmington Blue Rocks today announced that Wayne Duprey, its general manager for hospitality provider Centerplate at Frawley Stadium, has been honored as the company's Rookie of the Year. The award was bestowed at Centerplate's Annual Awards Gala on Wednesday, March 15. MORE »

    Former Wilmington Blue Rocks pitcher Yordano Ventura died early Sunday morning as the result of a car accident in his native Dominican Republic. Ventura, who pitched with Wilmington in 2012 and helped the Royals win a world championship in 2015, was 25 years old. MORE »
  • Manager Jamie Quirk, Pitching Coach Charlie Corbell and Hitting Coach Abraham Nunez Return to Wilmington

    The Kansas City Royals have announced that Jamie Quirk will return for a second season as manager of the Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2017. Also returning are former Major Leaguer Abraham Nunez as hitting coach, pitching coach Charlie Corbell and athletic trainer James Stone.     The Wilmington Blue Rocks are planning a season of celebration for their fans in honor of 2017 being the franchise's 25th in existence.   • Blue Rocks Install New Concourse and Bathroom Flooring at Frawley Stadium

    In their ongoing effort to provide the best fan experience in minor league baseball, the Delaware Stadium Corporation and the Wilmington Blue Rocks announced they have completed work on a complete overhaul of the concourse and bathroom floors at Frawley Stadium.     The Wilmington Blue Rocks are excited to announce the winner of the 15th Annual Holiday Card Contest. Thousands of entries were received, but unfortunately, there could be just one winner. After a tough decision process, Rocky Bluewinkle, Mr. Celery and the rest of the Holiday Card Contest Committee decided that the overall winner was Vasiliki Gouvias, a 4th Grader from Loomis Elementary School in Broomall, PA. Her artwork will be featured on the cover of the Wilmington Blue Rocks Holiday Card. Vasiliki will be rewarded with a team-autographed baseball, a ceremonial first pitch and 10 tickets to a 2017 Blue Rocks game. MORE »
  • Main Street Baseball Named Organization of the Year by Ballpark Digest

    Main Street Baseball, owner and operator of the Wilmington Blue Rocks, has won Ballpark Digest's 2016 Organization of the Year award. Main Street Baseball is led by CEO Dave Heller and runs four affiliated Minor League Baseball teams; the Blue Rocks, Billings Mustangs (Pioneer League, Cincinnati Reds), Lowell Spinners (Short-A, Boston Red Sox) and Quad Cities River Bandits (Midwest League, Houston Astros). The honor was announced Friday by Ballpark Digest, the publisher of which will officially present the award to Heller and Main Street Baseball at the Baseball Winter Meetings in December. MORE »

  • Former Blue Rock Mike Montgomery Saves Game Seven of World Series

    Chicago reliever Mike Montgomery was the only former Wilmington Blue Rock to participate in this season's World Series, but the lefthander certainly played a pivotal role. Montgomery entered the game with two outs in the 10th inning and the Cubs leading by a run. The potential tying tally was already on base, but Montgomery needed just two pitches to nail down his first save of the series, and end the Cubs' 108-year world championship drought. MORE »
