Sparky Lyle VIP Meet & Greet On June 2

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, will host a VIP Meet & Greet with Yankees legend Sparky Lyle as part of Pinstripe Pride Day on Sunday, June 2nd. The Patriots take on the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles) at 1:05 pm.

The VIP Meet & Greet with Lyle will take place in the newly unveiled SK Club (formerly the Party Deck) overlooking left field on the suite level. The Meet & Greet is scheduled to take place from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.

The cost is $50 and includes:

  • Admission to the SK Club for the VIP Meet & Greet
  • Picture with Sparky Lyle
  • 1 item signed by Sparky Lyle
  • Lyle will be bringing his 1977 Cy Young Award for pictures
  • All-you-can eat buffet for 90 minutes

Lyle was the first American League reliever to capture a Cy Young Award (1977) and ranks among the all-time leaders with 238 career saves. Between 1967-1980, Lyle had more saves than anyone else in the AL (231). He had a sixteen-year Major League career and played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Chicago White Sox. Lyle won back-to-back World Series with the Yankees in 1977 and 1978.

Lyle was the field manager for the Somerset Patriots from 1998 to 2012 and was named Manager Emeritus after the 2012 season. He still has a very active role with the team at the ballpark and throughout the community. Under his guidance, the Somerset Patriots won five Championships (2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009), 12 Half Championships, and eight Division Championships. He won over 1,000 games as the manager of the team and was selected Manager of the Year three times (1999, 2003, 2009) in his 15-year managing career.
