BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the third straight start, Barons starter Tanner Banks was exceptional as the lefty delivered his third quality start of the season in the win. Danny Mendick also delivered a two run home run in the victory, his second in a Birmingham uniform on the campaign.

The Barons got the scoring kicked off in the bottom of the second inning. Hunter Jones led the frame off with his 17th double of the year and was followed by a Courtney Hawkins base on balls. With runners on first and second, Trey Michalczewski slugged his tenth two-bagger on the campaign to score Jones from second base and move Hawkins up to third. Hawkins would not be there for long, as Keon Barnum clubbed the third double of the inning to bring two runs in to score and give Birmingham a 3-0 lead after two innings.
The score would remain 3-0 until the fifth inning when Danny Mendick blasted a home run to left field with Jose Vinicio on first after a single to extend the Barons lead to 5-0 after five innings.
Chattanooga got on the board in the top half of the seventh inning when two singles and a Max Murphy triple brought home the first two runs of the game for the Lookouts.
Birmingham would get the two runs back in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Jose Vinicio knocked his seventh double of the season and was moved to third base on a Danny Mendick single. Nick Basto drove Vinicio in on a sacrifice fly and Mason Robbins brought Mendick in to score on an infield single to short to bring the score to 7-2 after seven.
The Lookouts tacked on two comeback runs in the top of the eighth inning on two walks, one of which with the bases loaded, a pair of singles and a Ryan Walker RBI groundout to bring the score to 7-4.
The Barons and the Lookouts will continue their five game set tomorrow night on a Fireworks Friday at Regions Field, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CT.
