BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons announced today the full promotional schedule for the 2017 season, beginning with opening night on Wednesday, April 12th against the Montgomery Biscuits. The season long daily promotions will also continue this season, supplementing the game-by-game promotions, to combine for a packed 2017 schedule at Regions Field. Season long daily promotions include:
- Sunday - Salute to Armed Forces Sunday presented by NAPA and Marion Military Institute Tigers; Eat Local Drink Local
- Tuesday - T-Shirt Tuesday presented by Paycor; 50-Cent Hot Dog Night presented by Kayem, Flowers Baking Co., MINI of Birmingham, Birmingham Zoo, CBS 42 and O'Charley's; Social Media Night
- Wednesday - AAA Wednesday presented by AAA of Alabama
- Thursday - Thirsty Thursday presented by Miller Lite, Woodbridge and Buffalo Wild Wings
- Friday - Friday Night Fireworks presented by Hibbett Sports, Alabama Power, Coca-Cola; FIAT Friday presented by FIAT of Birmingham
- Saturday - Entertainer Series (select Saturdays) presented by Red Diamond, CBS 42; All-South Appliance Grill Giveaway each Saturday
The festivities get underway with the opening homestand from April 12th-Sunday April 16th, with all fans receiving 2017 Magnetic Schedules for the first three games (April 12th-April 14th) presented by MINI of Birmingham. Jake the Diamond Dog will also be on hand for opening night to entertain fans, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The first of 10 Thirsty Thursdays presented by Miller Lite, Woodbridge and Buffalo Wild Wings and the first of eight postgame Friday Night Fireworks presented by Hibbett Sports, Alabama Power and Coca-Cola highlight the next two games on April 13th and April 14th. To round out the opening homestand, the Barons will don special Brooklyn Dodgers inspired 42 jerseys on April 15th in honor of Jackie Robinson Day.
The Barons will wear specialty jerseys five times over the course of the 2017 season. Autism Friendly Day will be on April 23rd when the Barons will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned to benefit the Autism Friendly Day Committee. On Saturday, June 3rd, the Barons will host Los Barons Night, with jerseys to be auctioned to benefit ¡HICA!. The third jersey auction of the 2017 season will be during Breast Cancer Awareness night on Saturday, July 22nd with benefits going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Finally, on Tuesday, July 11th, the Barons will wear a UAB inspired jersey on UAB Night.
The Barons return home on Saturday, April 22nd for a series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. The first of five Saturday Entertainer Series featuring the Human Cannonball Show, following the game, highlights the first night of the series. Other acts of the Saturday Entertainer Series include, Zooperstars! (May 20th), BirdZerk! (June 17th), Breakin' B-Boy McCoy (July 1st) and Mad Chad (August 19th). The entire Saturday Entertainer Series is presented by Red Diamond and CBS 42.
The Barons will have six different T-Shirt Tuesday giveaways presented by Paycor, as part of every Tuesday Night home game.
The 2017 bobblehead series kicks off with a Joey Logano bobblehead giveaway for the first 1,000 adults presented by AAA of Alabama, on Thursday, May 4th against the Mississippi Braves. Logano will also be on hand to throw out the first pitch.
A beach towel giveaway for the first 1,000 adults presented by Sheraton Birmingham, in addition to the first of two Star Wars nights highlights the Friday, May 19th matchup against the Tennessee Smokies. On Sunday, May 21st, the first of two Bark in the Park days cap off the series against the Smokies. The second Bark in the Park day is set for Sunday July, 9th.
The Barons finish off the month of May, and begin the month of June with an exciting homestand against the Chattanooga Lookouts. The two teams will compete in the 22nd annual Rickwood Classic on Wednesday, May 31st at 12:30 p.m. presented by Levy's Fine Jewelry, with special guest, Baseball Hall-of-Famer Juan Marichal in attendance. The Barons and the Lookouts then return to Regions Field for three more games from Thursday, June 1st-Saturday June 3rd, highlighted by a Tim Anderson Hat giveaway for the first 1,000 adults 13 and over courtesy of Coca-Cola on June 2nd.
One of the highlights of the 2017 promotional schedule, the 3-D Stadium Collectible Series begins on Friday, June 9th with a Rickwood Field model presented by Jim Burke Automotive, for the first 1,000 adults 13 and over. The Hoover Met edition presented by Coca-Cola is scheduled for the first 1,000 adults 13 and over on Friday, June 30th. The Regions Field model presented by Wind Creek Casino and Hotel, rounds out the 3-D Stadium Collectible Series for the first 1,000 adults 21 and over on Friday, August 11th.
A former Barons manager Terry Francona bobblehead presented by Auto-Owners Insurance, will combine with a Friday Night Fireworks night to highlight the Friday, June 16th matchup against the Jackson Generals. The following night, the first 500 kids will receive a Regions Field baseball. July is the month for Throwback Jerseys, as on Saturday, July 1st, the first 1,000 adults will get a 1948 Barons Replica Jersey presented by Birmingham Association of Realtors. On Friday, July 21st, the first 1,000 kids 12 and under will receive a 1990s Barons Alternate Throwback Jersey presented by Coca-Cola. The Barons will also celebrate July 4th a day early, with special patriotic fireworks following the game and Jake the Diamond Dog will make his second appearance on Monday, July 3rd against the Biloxi Shuckers.
The Barons will again host Community Heroes week presented by WBRC Fox 6 News to cap off the month of July. Beginning on July 30th and running until August 2nd, The Barons will select one community hero each day and recognize them with a first pitch opportunity as well as an award prior to the game. On Saturday, August 19th, a Carson Fulmer bobblehead presented by AAA of Alabama rounds out the 2017 bobblehead series. The bobblehead will be given to the first 1,000 adults 13 and over through the Regions Field gates for the game against Montgomery.
Back by popular demand, on Saturday, August 26th, the fan favorite members of the 501st legion will make their second appearance of the season at Regions Field to celebrate Star Wars night, in conjunction with the largest fireworks show of the season, Pyro Palooza X presented by Benjamin Moore Paints. Finally, to complete the 2017 season, the Barons will host three separate Fan Appreciation days, from Monday, August 28th-Wednesday, August 30th for the final three home games of the season against the Tennessee Smokies.
