JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  For the third time in as many games, the Birmingham Barons were the first ones on the board. However, the Jumbo Shrimp proceeded to score in six straight innings to down the Barons 12-6 on Sunday afternoon.
Birmingham started off the game strong, as Jose Vinicio doubled to lead off the game. He would score on a wild pitch two batters later and then Hunter Jones capped off the two-run first with an RBI single.

While Jordan Guerrero kept Jacksonville off the board in the first, the Jumbo Shrimp bats came to life in the bottom of the second. Jacksonville cut the lead in half by picking up two hits and one run on the strength of a Chris Diaz RBI groundout.
After a third inning John Norwood single scored two for a 3-2 lead, the Jacksonville offense never looked back, as the home team scored nine more times over the next four innings.
When their run of offense came to an end, the Jumbo Shrimp found themselves with a 12-3 lead and at least a run in six straight innings between the second and seventh.
Contained in the run were four Jumbo Shrimp home runs, two off the bat of Taylor Ard and one from both Norwood and Dustin Geiger .
The Barons, however, never stopped battling, scoring three in the eighth inning. Brett Austin hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot and Danny Mendick ripped an RBI double to cut the lead to 12-6. But, that would be as close as the Barons would get.
Dillon Peters started and went five innings, while picking up his third win for the Jumbo Shrimp and his first since April 12. Guerrero took the loss, dropping to 7-10 on the season.
Birmingham and Jacksonville will meet again for game four of the five-game series tomorrow evening at 6:05 p.m. CT. Right-hander Spencer Adams will make the start for the Barons, while his counterpart will be righty Joe Gunkel for the Jumbo Shrimp. Curt Bloom will bring you all the action, starting with the Coca-Cola pregame show at 5:55 p.m. CT. The game can be heard on the iHeart Radio app and 105.5 WERC-FM.
