BayBears Drop Finale 4-2 in Tennessee

9th Inning Rally Falls Just Short
August 27, 2013

KODAK, TN - The BayBears scored twice in the 9th and had the tying run in scoring position with two outs, but ultimately fell 4-2 in the finale of a five game series at Smokies Park.

Bo Schultz suffered his fourth loss of the season for Mobile, though he pitched well for the majority of his 15th start of the season. An uncharacteristic loss of control in the bottom of the 2nd led to three runs, including two forced in on bases loaded walks with just one out.

Tennessee led 3-0 after four, and added another in the 5th on a solo home run from Arismendy Alcantara to make 4-0 into the 6th.

The BayBears bullpen turned in another dominant performance in the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings, as Bryan Woodall, Willy Paredes, and Jake Barrett combined to record all nine of their outs via the strikeout, while retiring nine of the 10 they faced.

Mobile's 9th inning comeback included a pair of singles, a walk and an error, with the two runs coming in on a Nick Evans groundout and a Raywilly Gomez sacrifice fly.

With the loss the BayBears now sit at 75-59 overall and 36-28 in the second half with five regular season games remaining. Mobile will host Pensacola in a five game set beginning Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
