BayBears Shutout Barons with Walk-off in 10

April 17, 2014

MOBILE, AL -- It took 10 innings but the Mobile BayBears topped the Birmingham Barons with a 1-0 shutout win Wednesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Jake Lamb scored the only run of the game with a two-out solo home run to right and the BayBears (7-6) celebrated their second walk-off win of the home stand. Jordan Parraz hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth in the BayBears win over the Montgomery Biscuits Sunday afternoon.

The 10 inning affair was the BayBears first extra-inning game of 2014 and the win was the second time the BayBears shut out an opponent this season. Four Mobile pitchers combined to shut out the Barons, limiting the Birmingham bats to just five hits over the 10 frames.

LHP Andrew Chafin had to settle for his third straight no decision, throwing seven shut out innings, allowing just five hits while walking three and striking out six. The BayBears bullpen did not surrender a single hit in the final three innings. RHP Blake Cooper earned the win after pitching a scoreless top half of the tenth.

With two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning, Lamb stepped into the box against RHP Parker Frazier. The righty's first pitch was taken for a strike. The second was hit high and deep to right field as Lamb's walk-off homer landed deep onto the clubhouse roof above the right field wall.

Thursday night the Barons and BayBears continue the series with game four of the five game set. RHP Mike Lee (0-2, 6.55) will take the mound for Mobile. Birmingham will start LHP Scott Snodgress (0-1, 10.29). First pitch Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Tickets are on sale now by calling 251.479.BEAR or online at MobileBayBears.com.
