BURLINGTON, IA - The Bowling Green Hot Rods (18-11) won their eightth game in a row with a 2-1 win today at Community Field over the Burlington Bees (12-15). The Hot Rods swept the road trip, and for the first time in team history, go undefeated in the state of Iowa during a season.
The Hot Rods scored both of their runs in the first inning. SS Taylor Walls singled, and that was followed by a 1B Brendan McKay walk. After a balk moved them to third and second respectively, C Zac Law hit a sac fly to right, scoring Walls. LF Moises Gomez then followed with an RBI triple, making it 2-0 Bowling Green.
LHP Josh Fleming (1-0, 0.00), in his Hot Rods debut, was solid in the win. He threw five innings, allowing two hits and one walk, striking out five. RHP Jose Disla gave up a run in the sixth, but otherwise kept the Bees at bay. LHP Hunter Schryver earned his third save of the season, covering the final four outs.
The Hot Rods return home to take on the Peoria Chiefs tomorrow night. The Hot Rods have not announced a starter, while Peoria will go with RHP Johan Oviedo (1-2, 6.45). First pitch from Bowling Green Ballpark is set for 6:35pm.
