Largest Two-Day Crowd in Club History Fills BG Ballpark
Bowling Green, Ky. - A new record was set this Independence Day weekend. It was not the temperature gauges, although it did feature two doses of fireworks. A total of 11,205 fans flocked to see Friday's and Saturday's contests at Bowling Green Ballpark, setting a new record for a two-day span in franchise history.
"We've seen a steady rise in interest and fan participation as folks have begun to hear about all the new and exciting things going on at Bowling Green Ballpark," said Hot Rods Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, Adam Nuse. "We are thrilled to be the most affordable and fun entertainment choice in the area. Fans are starting to see how we bring so much more to the table than just a baseball game, and we can't be any more proud of creating memory-making opportunities for families in South-Central Kentucky. The tone set by Jerry and Stuart Katzoff has been matched by our staff."
Fourth of July featured a double fireworks show presented by WBKO and All-Hit WUHU 107.1, and special patriotic jerseys that were auctioned off to benefit The Fisher House. A season-high crowd of 6,131 fans celebrated their Independence Day at the ballpark, and the contest quickly surpassed the fixed-seat capacity of Bowling Green Ballpark of 4,559.
The Hot Rods' celebration of our nation's holiday extended into Saturday, and 5,074 fans packed Bowling Green Ballpark to enjoy Signature Saturday, a vintage Hot Rods t-shirt giveaway, and a bonus post-game fireworks show thanks to Priceless IGA. Saturday pushed the two-day attendance to 11,205, a new record for the franchise. Including Sunday's showing of 2,704, the weekend surpassed 14,000 fans, many of which enjoyed their first game at the ballpark.
"Our team is committed to providing a great experience before, during, and even after the game," said Hot Rods Director of Sales, Eric. C. Leach. "We strive to create an experience where the baseball game is icing on the cake. The memories that are made at the ballpark can last a lifetime, and we recognize how important our experience is to families in both affordability and quality. We are ecstatic to continue to show South-Central Kentucky that a Hot Rods game is the most affordable and fun outing you can have, no matter the number of people you enjoy it with."
The Hot Rods will not play Monday in a Midwest League-wide day of rest, but their homestand continues at Bowling Green Ballpark on Tuesday night against West Michigan (Detroit Tigers). First pitch on Tuesday night is set for 7:05 p.m. CT on an All About You Urgent Clinic T-Shirt Tuesday.
