Bowling Green Stuns Captains 7-6 In Extras

(Eastlake, OH) - Bowling Green (32-29) beat Lake County (20-39) by a final of 7-6 in 10 innings on Saturday Night. Bowling green scored five runs on six hits in the ninth inning to take a 6-5 lead over the Captains. The big hits in the ninth inning were a game tying triple by Luke Maile and the go-ahead single was by Justin O'Conner. The Captains came back to tie the game on a solo homerun by Jeremy Lucas in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 6-6 headed to the 10th inning. Bowling Green pushed the winning run across on a sacrifice fly in the 10th. The final was 7-6.

The Captains scored four runs in the third inning. Lake County had five hits in the inning. The big blow was a bases clearing double by Joe Sever. That double plated the first three runs of the inning. A second straight double from Anthony Santander scored Sever and the score was 4-0 Captains.

Bowling Green put a run on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Joey Rickard walked and stole second base, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Marty Gnatt and the score was 4-1. Lake County got the run back in the fourth inning when Jeremy Lucas led off with a double and moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a RBI ground out from Jorge Martinez the score was 5-1.

The Captains sent RHP Luis Dejesus (1-6) to the mound to start the ballgame. Dejesus pitched five and one third innings, and allowed two hits one earned run; three walks, and had one strikeout. Josh Martin pitched one and two thirds innings and walked two while striking out five. Besides Martin the Captains used three relievers. The bullpen allowed six runs, five earned runs, on seven hits, and six walks. The loss went to Louis Head (0-1).

Bowling Green gave the ball to Reinaldo Lopez (2-3). Lopez pitched five innings on seven hits and allowed five runs, four were earned, and he struck out five. Eduar Quinonez (4-3) got the win after pitching five innings and allowed two hits, one earned run, one walk, and he struck out four.

Sunday and is a Family Fun Sunday, presented by the Lake County YMCA, featuring a pre-game player autograph session, concourse entertainment and activities, the Kids' Zone area and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game. All kids in attendance will receive a Captains activities book and crayons, presented by the YMCA and Lake County Job and Family Services.

Sunday the Captains will host a special is Macy's Pre-Father's Day promotion at Classic Park. Father's in attendance can sign up for a chance to a Father's Day Experience that includes tickets and a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the Father's Day game on the following Sunday, June 16. All fans in attendance throughout the series will receive coupons that can be used at Macy's for their Father's Day shopping needs.  

The pitching matchup is yet to be determined for the ballgame. The start time is at 1:30 PM.
