Seven Run Rally Dooms Captains

(Bowling Green, KY)- Bowling Green scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and defeated the Captains by a final of 9-4. In the inning, The Hot Rods drew five walks and one hit batter to fuel the rally. The Hot Rods drew three walks with the bases loaded and the bit batter occurred with the bases loaded as well. Leonardo Reginatto hit a sac fly and Tyler Goeddel singled home a run. Bowling Green used just two hits in the inning to score the seven runs.

Lake County took the 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, Joe Sever walked and came home to score on a single from Cody Ferrell. The Hot Rods answered right back in the bottom of the inning. Bowling Green scored a run on an error and the game was tied at 1-1.

The Captains took a 3-1 lead with two outs in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Richard Stock laced a double down the right field line and two runs came into score. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ryan Dunn doubled, and scored on a single by Brandon Martin and the Captains lead was cut to 3-2.

Lake County looked like they were going to add a big insurance run in the top of the sixth inning. Cody Ferrell walked and scored on a double by Dorssys Paulino. The lead was 4-2 Captains and they took that lead until the bottom of the eighth inning.

RHP Dylan Baker (7-6) started the game for Lake County. Baker did not get a decision. Dylan pitched five innings and allowed six hits, two earned runs and he struck out six. Jimmy Stokes pitched two scoreless innings. Jordan Milbrath (0-1) took the loss after pitching one third of an inning and allowing just one hit and walking two. Milbrath allowed four runs, and three were earned. Jack Wagoner faced four batters in the eighth with the bases loaded. Wagoner walked the first three and hit the fourth with a pitch. Cody Penny got the last two outs of the ballgame for the Captains.

RHP Reinaldo Lopez (7-5) started the game for the Hot Rods and did not get a decision. Lopez pitched two innings and allowed one hit and two walks. Overall the Hot Rods used three relief pitchers. The bullpen surrendered four earned runs on ten hits. The win went to Matt Spann (4-3).

The Captains will stay to Bowling Green, KY for the final game of the season. On Monday, Lake County will start RHP Juan Santana (0-0, 0.00) and Bowling Green will counter with LHP Bruedlin Suero (1-0, 1.69). First pitch is at 1:05 PM from Bowling Green Ballpark.
