Wisconsin Rattles Lake County 8-4

(Eastlake, OH)- Wisconsin sent nine men to the plate and scored five runs in the first inning and went on to beat the Captains by a score of 8-4. In the first, the Timber Rattlers used four hits, two walks and an error to score the five runs. The Captains have lost seven straight ballgames.

Lake County scored in the bottom of the first inning on a solo homerun form Clint Frazier. The home run was his eleventh of the season. The Captains cut the lead to 5-3 when they added two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Nellie Rodriguez hit a two out two run single to cut the lead to two runs.

Wisconsin scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning to extend their lead. Jose Pena hit his seventh homer of the season to lead off the inning and the score was 6-3. After a run scored on an error, David Denson singled home a run to cap the inning and give Wisconsin a 8-3 lead headed to the bottom of the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Lake County scored a run to cut the lead to 8-4. In the inning, Dorssys Paulino singled to lead off the frame. Two batters later Paulino was at third base after back-to-back walks. Paulino scored on a wild pitch and the lead was cut to four runs. 8-4 was the final.

RHP Dace Kime (5-12) started the game for the Captains and took the loss. Kime pitched four innings and allowed nine hits, eight runs, seven earned runs, two walks and two strikeouts. Kime allowed the homer to Pena. Anderson Polanco pitched three innings of shutout baseball and allowed just one hit while striking out four. Carlos Melo pitched one inning and allowed one hit and two walks. Melo fanned one. Justin Brantley pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Captains.

RHP Preston Gainey (3-6) started for Wisconsin and earned the win. Gainey pitched five innings and allowed six hits, four runs, two earned runs, two walks and he struck out three. Gainey allowed the homer to Frazier. The Timber Rattlers used two relief pitchers to shut out the Captains over the final four innings.

The Captains will continue a six game home stand on Thursday. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are in town. The Captains will start LHP Luis Lugo (5-7, 5.55) First Pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM from Classic Park in Eastlake, OH.
