Fayetteville N.C. – Carolina takes the series lead with a game five 4-2 win. Luis Castillo drives in two, and Logan Henderson strikes out nine as the Mudcats edge out the Woodpeckers for a 3-2 series lead.
Carolina (22-13, 54-43) takes game five of the series with a 4-2 win and takes a 3-2 series lead against Fayetteville (15-20, 45-56). Luis Castillo drove in two runs to give the Mudcats an early lead.
Carolina jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning and held on to their lead throughout the game. The Mudcats added a run in the seventh with a Jadher Areinamo single helping close out the game.
Logan Henderson (W, 3-2) started on the mound and went six innings. Henderson allowed one run on four hits and added nine strikeouts in his start. Yerlin Rodriguez (S, 8) pitched the last inning and picked up his eighth save of the year. Rodriguez allowed a home run but struck out two batters.
Carolina looks to win the series tomorrow afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Will Childers is expected to be getting the start in the series-clinching game on Sunday.
