Baysox Erase Four Run Deficit; Fall Late to Senators on Wednesday Night

Harrisburg, PA (August 26, 2026) – The Chesapeake Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, erased a four-run deficit, before ultimately falling late to the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, 5-4, on Wednesday night.
Chesapeake (28-24, 57-62) trailed for the duration, eventually tying the game with a three-run top of the eighth inning, before a Senators’ run in the bottom of the frame put Harrisburg back on top for good.
Entering the eighth down 4-1, Chesapeake loaded the bases on consecutive hits from Thomas Sosa and Victor Figueroa, who each enjoyed a multi-hit night. A walk to Anderson De Los Santos loaded the bases with no outs, before consecutive strikeouts.
Harrisburg right-hander Sandy Gaston (W, 3-4) entered and walked Griff O’Ferrall to force a run in. Fernando Peguero then laced a two-run double to right center field, tying the score at four. Peguero’s two-bagger was the third game-tying or go-ahead hit for the Baysox in his last six starts and 19 at bats.
Chesapeake’s comeback efforts were canceled out in the bottom half of the frame. A leadoff walk issued by right-hander Tyson Neighbors (L, 0-4) came around to score on a pair of singles, including the game-winning RBI knock from the Senators’ Sam Brown.
Peguero also played a part in the first run on Wednesday for the Baysox, as he singled and scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. Aron Estrada notched his 30th multi-hit game of the season, as he reached base three times with a pair of singles and a walk.
Harrisburg’s first four runs came in the game’s first three innings. Two batters into the bottom of the first, Devin Fitz-Gerald hit a solo homer to right field off Baysox left-handed starter Joseph Dzierwa. Harrisburg tacked on two additional runs in the second in a four-hit frame. A pair of doubles led to their final tally off Dzierwa in the third, who finished strong by retiring eight of the final nine batters he faced in a five-inning start.
The Baysox tried to add a late twist in the top of the ninth against Senators right-hander Jhancarlos Lara (S, 1), Wehiwa Aloy and Figueroa reached as the tying and go-ahead runs via the walk but were stranded in scoring position on a game-ending flyout from Vance Honeycutt in his lone plate appearance after entering in the eighth inning.
Chesapeake continues the series in Harrisburg on Thursday night. Right-hander Anthony Eyanson (6-1, 1.93 ERA) is set to go for the Baysox and will be opposed by Senators left-hander Josh Hartle (4-5, 3.63 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:30 pm from FNB Field.
The Baysox return home for one final homestand in 2026 on Tuesday, September 1, when they kick off a six-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.
