Baysox Relaunch Louie’s Holiday Hope Project 

Bowie, MD (November 10, 2025) – The Chesapeake Baysox are excited to announce the relaunch of Louie's Holiday Hope Project, a cherished community initiative dedicated to supporting families across the Greater Baltimore-Washington region during the holiday season.

Originally launched in 2007, Louie's Holiday Hope Project has helped dozens of area families and brought joy to more than 500 local children over the years. After a brief hiatus, the Baysox are proud to bring the program back—refreshed and reimagined for 2025—to continue spreading cheer and giving back to the community.

“With the ongoing government shutdown affecting so many households across our region, we know that this holiday season may be especially difficult for families,” said Brian Shallcross, General Manager of the Chesapeake Baysox. “Louie’s Holiday Hope Project represents the best of our community—compassion, generosity, and connection. We’re honored to play a small part in bringing some relief and joy to those who need it most.”

Throughout December, Louie the Baysox mascot, together with Baysox staff, will deliver gifts and essential items to select families in need, spreading smiles and holiday cheer across the region.

How to Get Involved

The Baysox are inviting fans and community members to support Louie’s Holiday Hope Project in two ways:

• Monetary Donations: Contributions will be used to purchase gifts and necessities for local families. Donations can be dropped off at Prince George’s Stadium during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) through Wednesday, December 10.

• Warm Clothing Drive: The stadium will also serve as a collection site for new socks, gently used winter coats, and other warm clothing to help families stay warm this winter.

As a special thank you for giving back, all donors will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win one of three prizes:

• A private, air-conditioned suite for a 2026 Baysox home game

• The opportunity to throw the first pitch during the 2026 Baysox season

• A mystery signed baseball from a Baysox player

Community members are also encouraged to nominate families in need of assistance by completing the form linked here. All submissions must be received by 5 p.m. ET on Friday, December 12.

The 2026 Baysox home opener is set for Tuesday, April 7, when the team takes on the Erie SeaWolves at Prince George’s Stadium. Game times and the full promotional/events schedule will be released at a later date.
