Bowie, MD (July 17, 2026) — The Chesapeake Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, today announced that DC101's Mike Jones will broadcast live from Prince George's Stadium on Friday, July 24, as the Baysox host the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit) for the 27th annual Navy Night, presented by Navy Federal Credit Union.
Jones, host of DC101's afternoon drive and a lifelong Orioles fan, will broadcast live from the ballpark, while the DC101 Street Team engages with fans throughout the stadium during the game.
"Navy Night is one of the most meaningful nights on our calendar—27 years of this community standing shoulder to shoulder with the Naval Academy family," said Brian Shallcross, General Manager of the Chesapeake Baysox. "Welcoming the Class of 2030 for their first night off the Yard, honoring our Gold Star families, and now adding Mike Jones and DC101 broadcasting live from the ballpark—it all adds up to a night that captures everything Baysox baseball is about: community, gratitude, and a great time at the ballpark."
Now in its 27th year, Navy Night is an evening of patriotism, baseball, and fireworks as the community turns out in full force to welcome the newest class of U.S. Naval Academy plebes. This year's celebration is especially meaningful for the Class of 2030, who will be stepping off the Yard for the first time since Induction Day in June. For many of the plebes, the night marks a well-earned break from the rigors of Plebe Summer—and a first chance to enjoy a night out with the support of their new community.
The Baysox will also welcome Gold Star families—the immediate family members of U.S. service members who lost their lives in military service—honoring their sacrifice and the memory of their loved ones.
"I grew up on Orioles baseball, so getting to broadcast live from the ballpark where the next generation of O's is coming up is a dream," said Mike Jones, DC101 afternoon drive host. "And to do it on Navy Night, with the plebes getting their first night out and Gold Star families in the house—that's special. The Street Team and I are bringing the energy. Come say hi."
A cherished tradition for the Annapolis area, Navy Night unites residents, service members, and Naval Academy families in a spirited salute to those who serve. The full evening includes:
- Live DC101 Broadcast — Mike Jones broadcasts live from Prince George's Stadium, with the DC101 Street Team on-site engaging fans.
- Welcome for the Class of 2030 — The community salutes the Naval Academy's newest plebes on their first night off the Yard.
- Gold Star Family Recognition — Honoring the families of fallen service members.
- Post-Game Fireworks — Presented by Johns Hopkins Community Physicians.
