BOWIE, MD (August 8, 2025) – On Friday, August 15, the Chesapeake Baysox will host a unique matchup at Prince George’s Stadium, featuring both teams playing under their alternate identities: the Oyster Catchers and the newly minted Moon Mammoths.

The Moon Mammoths, an alternate identity of the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers), were unveiled on July 24, 2025, in Erie, PA as part of a creative collaboration with John Oliver and HBO’s Last Week Tonight. The Baysox, proudly playing as the Oyster Catchers, are honored to welcome the Moon Mammoths for this special event.

"Alternate identities are a core part of Minor League Baseball,” said Brian Shallcross, General Manager of the Oyster Catchers. “The ability to play into this moment and host the Erie SeaWolves as the Moon Mammoths is an honor—and we look forward to remaining undefeated as the Oyster Catchers.”

Initially introduced in March 2025, the Oyster Catchers alternate identity sparked an unexpected fan reaction to its original patch design. What began as a lighthearted moment of attention quickly evolved into something far more meaningful—a unique opportunity to harness the power of sports and community to raise awareness and funds in support of Cervivor, a nonprofit dedicated to cervical cancer education and advocacy.

Oyster Catchers games feature in-game tributes, survivor recognitions, 50/50 raffles, and educational moments on the power of prevention. As part of the initiative, 10% of all Oyster Catchers merchandise sales throughout the 2025 season will be donated to Cervivor. Minor League Baseball has pledged to match the Baysox’s donations, expanding the campaign’s impact.

Special ticket packages for the August 15 game are available, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Cervivor. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here. To shop the exclusive Oyster Catchers collection, click here.
