Alfaro Named to AFL Top Prospects Team

Crawdads catcher honored after leading team to title
December 10, 2013

HICKORY, NC - The Arizona Fall League has announced its 2013 Top Prospects Team, with Crawdads catcher Jorge Alfaro listed among the league's elite players.

Selected by Fall League managers and coaches, the Top Prospects Team recognizes players who distinguished themselves throughout the league's six-week 2013 schedule against other top prospects from every organization in Major League Baseball. Voters were asked to consider both the player's Fall League performance, and their major league potential.

Alfaro, 20, helped guide the Surprise Saguaros to the AFL Championship with an RBI single and two thrown out base runners in the championship game. The Columbia native also played in the "Fall Stars" game after finishing runner-up for the league batting title with a .386 average. Alfaro ended the AFL season with 35 total bases, 11 RBI and 6 doubles over his 19 games played.

Alfaro was joined by fellow former Crawdads Ryan Rua ('13), Keone Kela ('13), Will Lamb ('11-12), and Nick McBride ('11-12) on the champion Saguaros squad.
