Hickory, NC- The Texas Rangers have announced their monthly minor league awards for July, and a pair of Crawdads are being honored for their standout performances. Pitcher Kyle Cody has been named Rangers Minor League Pitcher of the Month while outfielder Leody Taveras takes the title of Rangers Defender of the Month, for the second time this season (April).
Cody, who was promoted from Hickory to Down East on August 8th, went 3-0 with a 0.59 ERA (2 ER/30.2 IP) in 5 starts for the Crawdads in July.
Taveras has compiled a .988 fielding percentage in 107 starts for Hickory (104 in center field and 3 in left field) and committed just one error in 28 starts in July and is tied for the organization lead with 8 assists.
Two other former 'Dads were also honored by the Rangers as well, as Scott Williams was named Reliever of the Month with the Wood Ducks and Frisco's Jose Trevino was the recipient of the True Ranger Award.
