Hickory, NC- Hickory Crawdads right-handed pitcher Kyle Cody has been named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week for June 12th-18th, thanks to his impressive performance against the Lakewood BlueClaws on June 17th.
Cody, 22, tossed eight scoreless innings of 1-hit ball, while issuing just one walk and fanning eight batters. The 6'7" righty has now recorded 6 starts this season in which he pitched at least 5.0 innings and allowed 3 earned runs or less.
Signed in the 6th round of the 2016 Draft, Cody currently leads all Crawdads starting pitchers in strikeouts (51) and innings pitched (59.2) to go along with a 51/21 K/BB ratio.
Cody joins now-former 'Dads Yanio Perez and Jonathan Hernandez as winners of SAL Weekly Awards in 2017, with Perez winning Player of the Week and Hernandez being named Pitcher of the Week in weeks 3 and 6 respectively, this season.
