Gallo Named Topps MiLB Class A All-Star
HICKORY, NC - Minor League Baseball™ and the Topps Company announced today the nine players selected to the Topps Class A® All-Star Team, with Crawdads third baseman and Joe Bauman Home Run Award winner Joey Gallo among those honored.
The All-Star squad is comprised of the top players from the five Class A leagues, a pool that includes a total of 60 teams from the California League, Florida State League, Carolina League, South Atlantic League and the Midwest League.
Gallo (20) of Henderson, Nev., led MiLB in home runs with 40 in becoming the youngest player to win the Joe Bauman Home Run Award. The Hickory slugger also led the South Atlantic League in slugging percentage (.610) and OPS (.944) while pacing the Crawdads in RBI (78), total bases (239), and runs scored (82). Gallo was selected in the first round (39th overall) of the 2012 Draft by the Texas Rangers.
Gallo joins fellow Crawdad alum Christian Villanueva (2011), who was named to the Topps Double-A All-Star team after his stellar season with the Tennessee Smokies (CHI-NL).
