Hickory, NC- Hickory Crawdads right-handed pitcher Jonathan Hernandez has been named the South Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Week for May 15th-21st, thanks to his dominant performance against the Greensboro Grasshoppers on May 15th.

Hernandez, 20, was nearly unhittable allowing just one hit and striking out six batters over seven shutout innings. Signed by the Rangers as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2013, Hernandez leads all Crawdads starting pitchers in strikeouts (37), ERA (2.80) and innings pitched (35.1) to go along with a 37/11 K/BB ratio.

Hernandez joins teammate Yanio Perez as winners of SAL Weekly Awards in 2017, with Perez winning Player of the Week in week 3 of the season.
