Two Crawdads on 2017 SAL All-Star Team

South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa has announced the rosters for the 58^th Annual SAL All-Star Game in Columbia, SC on June 20^th, with two members of the Hickory Crawdads named to the Northern Division team.

Yanio Perez was voted in as a utility outfielder while Ricky Valencia was selected as a catcher.
Perez, 21, has been one of the most consistent hitters in the league as he is currently tied for 3^rd in home runs (9), batting average (.333), and OPS (.972). He has recorded a hit in 32 of 43 games played, with 14 of them multi-hit games. The Cuba native also had an 8-game hitting streak earlier this season. Signed as an international free agent in 2016, Perez was named the SAL Player of the Week on April 30^th after a monster week at the plate hitting .609 with 5 home runs, 14 hits, 30 total bases, and 13 RBI over the 7-game stretch.
Valencia, 24, is batting .286 with 3 home runs, 8 doubles and 15 RBI on the season. The Venezuela native has recorded a hit in 23 of 30 games played this season, including 7 multi-hit games. Behind the plate, Valencia has thrown out 29% of would-be base stealers.
