The Woodies were hot tonight in game 4 against the Delmarva Shorebirds. The Shorebirds started the game with a lead-off single by Tavera. Tavera was then thrown out trying to steal second. The Woodies score 1 in the first, by a Figuereo double, followed by a pass ball, and a fielding error by the Shorebirds right fielder (Sosa). Delmarva strands one baserunner in the second inning. The Woodies started the bottom of the 2nd inning with back-to-back singles from Smith and Pollard. Smith is scored on a balk by the Delmarva pitcher, which also advanced Pollard to 2nd. Pollard then stole third and proceeded to score a run due to a throwing error by the Shorebirds pitcher (De Leon). Wood Ducks led 3-0 after 2 innings. Delmarva went three up, three down in the third. The Woods added on a couple of more runs in the third. Brock singled on a line drive to right field. Disla reaches on a fielding error by the Shorebirds 3rd baseman (Tejada), which also allowed Brock to advance to 2nd. Lopez is walked to load the bases, then Smith is walked, allowing Brock to score. Pollard then grounded into a force out, but all runners were able to advance, and Disla scored. Wood Ducks went up 5-0 after 3 innings.

Delmarva is able to get two on base with a double, and single, but ultimately both runners are left stranded. The Woodies went three up, three down in the 4th inning. It is a quick 5th inning for both teams, with the only baserunner for either being Brock for the Wood Ducks who was walked and left stranded. The Shorebirds continued to struggle and again had a three up, three down inning in the 6th. The Wood Ducks start the bottom of the 6th with Pollard reaching on a fielding error by the Delmarva first baseman (De Los Santos). Pollard proceeded to steal 2nd, followed by a Mendez walk. Alvarez singled to center field to score Pollard, followed by two more singles from Cueva and Figuereo. Mendez was able to score on the Figuereo walk. Disla was then walked. Lopez grounded out to the first baseman, but not before Cueva was able to score. The Wood Ducks were up 9-0 after 6 innings.

The Woodies and Delmarva both went three up, three down in the 7th. Urman was walked in the top of the 8th and advanced to 2nd on a balk, but then was left stranded. The Woodies strung together a double and single in the 8th, but both runners were left on the bases. The Shorebirds were finally able to get a run on the board in the top of the 9th inning due to a walk to Sosa. Sosa was able to advance to 2nd and 3rd on a fielder’s indifference (the catcher did not try to throw out the runner while they were stealing). Sosa scored off a De Los Santos single. De Los Santos was left stranded, and the Wood Ducks won 9-1.

De Leon earned the loss after pitching 3.0 innings with 4 hits, and 6 strikeouts for Delmarva. Bormie was awarded the win for the Wood Ducks (4.0 IP, 0 H, 7 K).
