SALEM, VA - The Wood Ducks (18-37, 53-72) returned the favor to the Red Sox (26-28, 58-64) with a 6-0 shutout victory on Saturday night. Jason Bahr started things with five walk-free innings for the pitching staff. He was followed by Christian Torres and Jacob Lemoine who preserved the shutout for the final four innings.

The offense was productive top-to-bottom with 12 hits on the night. Leody Taveras led the way with three hits - including the triple in the top of the sixth that broke the ice from a cold start for the DEWDs.
Kutter Crawford started the night by retiring the first ten batters he faced and only allowed one hit through five innings against the DEWDs. Taveras' triple kicked off a three-run frame with RBIs from Anderson Tejeda and Chuck Leblanc to take the lead.
Bahr kept the game scoreless despite facing jams with runners in scoring position in the first, third, and fifth innings but left five runners on base during his work. The bullpen did not allow a runner to reach scoring position to close the game.
The Woodies would add another in the seventh from Taveras as he lined a single to bring home Brendon Davis and push the lead to 4-0. Davis was at the plate one inning later with the bases loaded and drew a walk for his 32nd RBI of the season. The next batter, Melvin Novoa, tagged a sac fly to left-center to bring home the sixth run of the game for the Wood Ducks.
The victory marked the Wood Ducks' sixth shutout of the season and their second of the week. Down East looks to take back-to-back series with a rubber game set for Sunday at 4:05 p.m. Salem's starter is TBA, while the Wood Ducks will start lefty Tyler Thomas for the first time at the high-A level.
