BRADENTON, Fla. - Randy Dobnak tossed six scoreless innings to lead the Miracle to a 4-1 victory over the Bradenton Marauders on Monday night at LECOM Park.
Dobnak's scoreless inning streak is now at 17 to begin the season. He is one of three Miracle starters who still have a 0.00 ERA, with Bailey Ober and Bryan Sammons being the others. The right-hander allowed five hits and struck out two.
The scored twice in the third inning and added another pair in the fourth. Michael Helman, who would later extend his hitting streak to seven games with a double, reached second with one out on a throwing error by Bradenton starting pitcher Oddy Nunez. Lewin Diaz later delivered a sacrifice fly and Jose Miranda came through with a two-out RBI double.
In the fourth, Helman picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly and Aaron Whitefield scored on a wild pitch. Bradenton picked up its lone run in the eighth on Travis Swaggerty's solo home run.
Dobnak (2-0) earned his second straight win. Hector Lujan tossed a pair of innings in relief, striking out three. Johan Quezada picked up his first save with a perfect bottom of the ninth inning. Nunez (0-1) suffered the loss for Bradenton.
The second of the three-game series is on Tuesday night at LECOM Park. Left-hander Bryan Sammons (2-0, 0.00) will start for Fort Myers. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
