Encarnacion lifts Miracle to extra innings win

Fort Myers outlasts Charlotte 4-2 in 13 innings, Faucher extends scoreless innings streak

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - In a possible playoff preview, the Fort Myers Miracle outlasted the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 4-2, in 13 innings on Tuesday night at the Charlotte Sports Park. In the top of the 13th, Yeltsin Encarnacion bounced a two-run single over the head of Charlotte first baseman Joey Roach.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - In a possible playoff preview, the Fort Myers Miracle outlasted the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 4-2, in 13 innings on Tuesday night at the Charlotte Sports Park.
In the top of the 13th, Yeltsin Encarnacion bounced a two-run single over the head of Charlotte first baseman Joey Roach. It was the first runs scored since the fourth inning. The Miracle added a run on a wild pitch to take a 4-1 lead.
Charlotte cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the inning, but Moises Gomez struck out looking to end the game.
Charlotte jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third on a Niko Hulsizer RBI ground out.  
The Miracle quickly answered in the top of the fourth on a Trey Cabbage RBI single that tied the game at 1-1.
Charlotte had a chance to win the game in the 10th. The Stone Crabs put runners at the corners with no outs before Moises Gomez retired the next three hitters.
Dakota Chalmers started for the Miracle and limited the Stone Crabs to one run on three hits in 5.1 innings. The 22-year old walked three and struck out seven.
Calvin Faucher tossed two scoreless innings to extend his scoreless innings streak to 16.1 innings. The right-hander has not allowed a run since July 7 (10 appearances).
Joe Record (4-3) earned the win in relief after allowing just an unearned run in three innings of work.  
Miracle pitchers struck out 19 Stone Crabs to tie a season-high set back on April 7.  
The three-game series shifts to Fort Myers on Wednesday night for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
