FORT MYERS, Fla. - Michael Helman drilled a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the Fort Myers Miracle to a 3-1 win on Friday night at Hammond Stadium.
Helman's blast followed a Ryan Jeffers two-out single. The home run was Helman's first in a Miracle uniform.
Down 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth, the Miracle evened the score on a Trevor Larnach single. Larnach finished 3-4 at the plate and has driven in 11 RBI in 15 games.
Bailey Ober started for the Miracle and continued his early season dominance. The right-hander tossed six innings and allowed one unearned run. He walked one and struck out six. Ober has not allowed an earned run in 18 innings to start the season.
Johan Quezada (2-0) earned the win for the Miracle. Quezada entered with two outs in the ninth inning and a man on second and retired Carl Chester on a fly out to center.
The game was delayed by 1 hour and 18 minutes prior to first pitch due to heavy rain.
The rubber game of the three-game series is on Saturday night in Fort Myers. Charlie Barnes (1-1, 7.36) will start for the Miracle. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
