JUPITER, Fla. - Alex Kirilloff went 5-5 and Jose Miranda homered, as the Fort Myers Miracle won the South Division Championship with a 3-1 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.
The Miracle swept the best-of-three series, 2-0.
Miranda's two-run blast broke a scoreless game in the top of the third.
The Cardinals answered with a run in the bottom of the third on an Irving Lopez sacrifice fly.
The game stayed 2-1 until the sixth when Mark Contreras provided some insurance with a sacrifice fly to left.
Kirilloff's 5-5 night marked his first five-hit game of his career. The right-fielder went 7-9 with a home run in the series.
Clark Beeker started for the Miracle and allowed one run in 4.1 innings pitched. Alex Phillips (1-0) earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief. Phillips, who was pitching in the Frontier League last month, entered with the based loaded and one out in the fifth and induced a key 6-4-3 double play.
Hector Lujan and Adam Bray also pitched scoreless innings with Bray notching his first save of the postseason.
Ian Oxnevad (0-1) took the loss after surrendering two runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings.
After an off day on Thursday, the Miracle will open the 2018 Florida State League Championship Series on Friday night in Fort Myers against the winner of the Clearwater/Daytona Series.
