KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Miracle scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to come back and beat the Florida Fire Frogs, 6-4, on Friday night at Osceola County Stadium.
Ryan Costello led off the ninth with a solo home run down the right field line to tie the game. It came off Daysbel Hernandez, who had just entered the game. Costello finished the night 3-for-4. Later in the frame, Aaron Whitefield scored from second on a wild pitch and Ernie De La Trinidad delivered an RBI single.
The Miracle took an early 3-0 lead with single runs in the first, second, and fourth innings. Alex Kirilloff, who was 3-for-3 with a double in the game, put Fort Myers on the board with a sacrifice fly. Costello had an RBI single and another run scored on an error.
Florida got on the board in the fourth with a pair of runs. CJ Alexander brought home one with an RBI triple and Braxton Davidson had an RBI ground out.
The Miracle held the 3-2 lead until the eighth, when William Contreras delivered a two-out two-run double to put the Fire Frogs in front for the first time.
Jovani Moran (3-1) blew the save in the eighth inning, but pitched a scoreless ninth to secure the win. Hernandez (0-1) suffered the loss for Florida.
Andro Cutura started for the Miracle and tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He walked one and struck out six. Jeremy Walker went eight innings for Florida and surrendered three runs (two earned) on eight hits. He walked one, hit two batters, and struck out seven.
The series continues on Saturday night at Osceola County Stadium. Right-hander Michael Pineda will start for Fort Myers on a MLB Rehab Assignment. First pitch is 6:31 p.m.
