Miracle use long ball to beat Bradenton,14-7

Rortvedt goes deep twice, Arraez, Kirilloff also homer in second straight win

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Fort Myers Miracle scored in all but one inning to defeat the Bradenton Marauders, 14-7, Friday night at Lecom Park.
Luis Arraez led off the game with his first home run of the season to give the Miracle an early 1-0 lead.  
Bradenton answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Mitchell Tolman drove in two with a double. Tolman then stole third and scored on a throwing error from catcher Ben Rortvedt.
After tying the game, 3-3 in the third on a Rortvedt home run, his first of two on the night, the Miracle took a 4-3 lead in the third on a Mark Contreras sacrifice fly. Rortvedt hit his second two-run home run of the game in the fourth to push the Miracle lead to 6-3.
Then in the fifth, Alex Kirilloff hit a three-run blast, to increase the lead to 9-3. Contreras knocked in a run an inning later on a ground out to make it 10-3 Miracle.
Jared Oliva hit a seventh inning grand slam to cut the Fort Myers lead to 10-7, but the Miracle answered with a run in the eighth on a Kirilloff RBI single and three in the ninth on a two-run double from Contreras and an RBI single from Kirilloff.
Arraez finished 5-6 and a triple shy of the cycle, Kirilloff picked up four hits and drove in five, and Contreras collected four hits and four RBI's. Rortvedt also drove in four and Lewin Diaz finished 3-4 with a walk.
Tyler Wells shook off a rough start to toss six innings. After allowing three runs in the first, the Miracle right-hander pitched five straight scoreless innings. Wells (6-3) walked one and struck out four.
Fort Myers left-hander Alex Robinson allowed four runs (three earned) in two innings of work before giving way to Hector Lujan. Lujan pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Bradenton starter Adam Oller allowed nine runs (eight earned) in 4.1 innings. Oller (0-2) surrendered 13 hits in suffering his second loss of the season. Blake Cederlind (two innings, one run), Jake Brentz (1.2 innings, one run), and Ronny Agustin (one inning, three runs) combined to throw the final 4.2 innings.
In his third game with the Miracle since being optioned by the Twins, Miguel Sanó went 0-4 with two walks. Sano was robbed of hits in the third and ninth innings.
The 14 runs and 20 hits for the Miracle marked season highs.
The Miracle can clinch a series win Saturday night in Bradenton when they hand the ball to Griffin Jax (0-0, 4.15). He'll face Mike Wallace (3-2, 4.93). First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
