BRADENTON, Fla. - Oddy Nunez pitched an eight-inning no-hitter, as the Bradenton Marauders blanked the Fort Myers Miracle, 5-0, Sunday afternoon at LECOM Park. The game was called in the bottom of the eighth due to rain.
Nunez (3-5) allowed just three base runners (two walks and a hit batter) in his eight innings of work. The southpaw struck out six.
Bradenton broke a scoreless tie in the fifth on a Hunter Owen two-run triple. The Marauders added three more runs in the seventh on a Jared Oliva three-run double.
Miracle starter Andro Cutura (3-3) allowed two runs in 5.2 innings in suffering his third loss of the season. Cutura walked two and struck out seven. He carried a no-hitter into the fifth.
Tom Hackimer allowed three runs in 1.1 innings of work. He walked one and struck out two.
After an off day Monday, the Miracle open a three-game series Tuesday night in Tampa against the Tarpons, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the New York Yankees. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
