Wells dominates again in 2-1 win over Jays

Right-hander holds Dunedin to three hits, as Fort Myers salvages finale

FORT MYERS, Fla. - After a 63-minute rain delay prior to the game's first pitch, the Fort Myers Miracle salvaged the final game of their three-game set with the Dunedin Blue Jays with a 2-1 victory.
All-Star Tyler Wells blanked the Blue Jays over seven innings. Wells (5-3) scattered three hits and struck out four. The right-hander has allowed one run over his last 15 innings (two starts).   
The Miracle scored their only runs in the third inning. Joe Cronin and Travis Blankenhorn each knocked in a run on base hits to give the Miracle a 2-0 lead.
The game stayed 2-0 until the ninth when Kevin Smith homered to left to get the Blue Jays on the board. After David Jacob singled, Kacy Clemens flew out to center to end the game.  
Ryan Mason collected his second save of the season. Mason allowed a run in two innings of work.
Tayler Saucedo went the distance for the Blue Jays. The left-hander gave up two runs in eight innings of work. Saucedo (4-4) walked two and struck out five.
Fort Myers opens their final series before the All-Star Break Monday night in Jupiter against the Palm Beach Cardinals, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The teams will resume their suspended game from June 7 prior to the regularly scheduled nine-inning game. The suspended game is tied 3-3, with the Miracle hitting in the bottom of the seventh. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
