FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Third baseman Devin Ortiz had a pair of hits, but the TinCaps fell to the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers affiliate), 5-1, on a chilly Thursday night at Parkview Field.

After pitching shined for both sides early, Great Lakes (11-7) scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take command. Loons starter Jared Karros, whose father Eric was the 1992 National League Rookie of the Year with the Dodgers, struck out a career-high eight batters across five scoreless innings.

Fort Wayne (8-9) got a run back in the seventh as Ortiz scored from third base on a wild pitch.

However, the Loons built their lead back to four with an insurance tally in the ninth.

The 'Caps finished 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

In relief, Joan Gonzalez worked 3 1/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Before the game, in celebration of Parkview Field's 15th anniversary season, a State of Indiana House Resolution was presented to TinCaps President Mike Nutter and the team. Coincidentally, earlier in the day, the ballpark also welcomed its 7 millionth guest since opening in 2009. Click here to learn more.
