Chris Harris Named 2013 Southern League Broadcaster of the Year

Award comes in Harris' fifth season with the Jackson Generals

Jackson, Tenn - The Southern League announced today that Chris Harris, "The Voice of the Generals," has been named its 2013 Radio Broadcaster of the Year, as selected by his peers and the league's general managers. Harris receives this award in his fifth year with the Jackson Generals as the team's Manager of Media Relations and Broadcasting.

"Chris is a valuable part of the Generals organization and does so much for the team on a daily basis," said Jason Compton, Generals GM. "He has always gone above and beyond to do a great job, and we're so happy to see him get the recognition we feel he deserves."

For the last seven years, Chris has done play by play work for the TSSAA Radio Network calling many State Championship Events in football, baseball, and basketball. Prior to joining the Generals, he was the voice of his alma mater, Bethel University's basketball and football teams and hosted a weekday afternoon talk show on 96.5 ESPN Radio.

Harris resides in Lexington, TN and is a graduate of Jackson Christian, where he was a standout in baseball and basketball, having his name in the TSSAA baseball record books in several offensive categories. Chris holds an Associate's Degree from Jackson State and a Bachelor's Degree in Business from Bethel University. In his spare time, Harris is a die-hard University of Memphis Tigers fan.
