Somerset, NJ- Jeisson Rosario drove in four runs with three hits, including a pair of doubles and a home run as the Somerset Patriots defeated the Hartford Yard Goats 9-0 on Wednesday night at TD Bank Ballpark in New Jersey. Somerset scored three runs in the first inning and added two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, sending Hartford to a season-high fifth consecutive loss.

The Patriots scored three runs in the first inning off Yard Goats starter Noah Gotsis. The first two batters walked and Andres Chaparro cracked an RBI single, scoring Anthony Volpe to make it 1-0. Jeisson Rosario followed with a two-run double to make it 3-0 Somerset.

The Patriots made it 5-0 in the third inning as Rosario cranked a two-run home run, his eighth of the season. Somerset starter Clayton Beeter fired three hitless and scoreless innings and recorded six strikeouts.

Blake Perkins led off the fourth inning for Somerset with a solo homer off reliever Garrett Schilling. Later in the inning, Austin Wells contributed with an RBI single to make it 7-0. The Yankees affiliate grabbed two more runs in the fifth inning on three hits.

The Yard Goats and Patriots will play a morning game (11:05 AM) on Thursday. Noah Davis will start for the Yard Gats. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return home next Tuesday, August 16th to Dunkin' Donuts Park to host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
