Reading, PA- The Fightin Phils scored six runs over the first three innings and cruised by behind starter Jack Perkins and three relievers en-route to an 8-1 victory against the Hartford Yard Goats on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading, Pennsylvania. Yard Goats shortstop Taylor Snyder extended his hitting streak to nine games by smashing his team-leading ninth home run. He is 11-18 at the plate, with four homers, 10 RBI and scored six runs in the first five games in Reading.

Reading scored the first run of the game on outfielder Matt Vierling’s two-out solo home run in the first inning off Hartford starter Matt Dennis. The Fightins added a pair of runs in the second inning with an RBI double by catcher Jack Conley, and a run-scoring triple by pitcher Jack Perkins to make it 3-0 Reading.

The Fightins scored three more runs in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. Vierling and Jorge Bonafacio hit back-to-back singles and Madison Stokes followed with an RBI double. Then with two outs, Dalton Guthrie cracked a two-run triple.

Meanwhile the Yard Goats struggled off Reading pitching. Jack Perkins allowed two hits in the first inning before retiring eight of the next nine batters faced. Taylor Snyder cranked a solo homer in the fourth inning, which would be the Yard Goats final hit of the evening. The bullpen of Kyle Dohy, Braden Zarbnisky, and Billy Sullivan turned aside 14 consecutive batters until Coco Montes earned a two-out walk in the ninth inning.
