Somerset, NJ- Former New York Yankees right-hander Deivi Garcia, who started Game Two of the ALDS in 2020 against Tampa Bay, recorded ten strikeouts in five solid innings, leading Somerset to a 7-3 victory against the Hartford Yard Goats on Friday night at TD Bank Ball Park in New Jersey. Garcia became the youngest Yankee to start a playoff game at 21 years old, and earned his first win this season. Willie MacIver cranked a two run homer off Garcia in the second inning.

Somerset took an early lead in the first inning as Andres Chaparro cranked a three-run homer off Yard Goats starter Mike Ruff. Hartford made it a one-run game when Willie MacIver smashed a two-run home run off Deivi Garcia in the second inning. However, that would be as close as the Yard Goats would get.

Somerset added a run in the second inning on Everson Pereira's RBI single and the Patriots made it 5-2 on Mickey Gaspers infield hit, scoring Chaparro in the third inning.

Yard Goats starter Mike Ruff settled down and only allowed one hit after the third inning, while retiring 9 of the final 10 batters faced in six innings. He finished with three strikeouts.

The Yard Goats and Patriots will play the fifth game of the six game series on Saturday night at 7:05 PM. RHP Mitch Kilkenny will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Matt Sauer will start for the Patriots. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return home next Tuesday, August 16th to Dunkin' Donuts Park to host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
