Goats play 'Wall' ball to saddle Ponies with loss

HARTFORD- Forrest Wall slugged a home run, double and single and Matt Pierpont notched his league-leading 17th save, as the Hartford Yard Goats defeated the Binghamton Rubble Ponies, 6-3, Friday night, before a capacity crowd of 6,850 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. It was the 17th sellout of the season for Hartford and sixth capacity crowd. The Yard Goats have drawn 202,670 fans this year.
Pierpont, who got Josh Allen, the tying run, to line out to third, saved the win for starter Jesus Tinoco, who evened his record at 5-5. The right hander pitched six innings and allowed six hits, one run and one walk, while striking out three.  
Wall started the Yard Goats's four-run fifth inning with an upper deck home run to right. Hartford (31-35) then strung together doubles by Mylz Jones, Sam Hilliard and Brian Mundell and an RBI single by Dom Nuñez, to open a 6-0 lead off of starter Nabil Crismatt, who gave up six runs on 10 hits in five innings.
Wall and Mundell, each had three hits and an RBI to lead the Yard Goats 13-hit attack. Hilliard added a double, single and RBI. Hartford had four doubles in the game.  
Matt Oberste had three hits to lead Binghamton (34-32). Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow went 0-for-3, before being removed as part of a double switch. The Mets affiliate has lost four straight games.  
Game two of the series is Saturday night at 6:05. RHP Peter Lambert pitches for the Yard Goats against RHP Justin Dunn for Binghamton.   The game will be televised on Vantage Sportsnet, broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
