Harrisburg, PA- Willie MacIver blasted a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the seventh inning, helping the Yard Goats defeat the Harrisburg Senators 5-4, and earning a split in Thursday’s doubleheader at FNB Field in Pennsylvania. The designed hitter cranked his team-leading seventh homer 398 feet well over the left field fence, and out of the ballpark. The Senators hit four homers and defeated the Yard Goats in the first game by the score of 6-1. The Yard Goats have won two of the first three games of the six-game series.

The Yard Goats had leads of 3-0 and 4-2 in the second game but the Senators came back and tied it. Hartford put together a two-out rally in the second inning off Harrisburg starter Alex Troop. Isaac Collings collected an RBI single, scoring Aaron Schunk to make it 1-0. The Yard Goats made it 3-0 on a fielding error which scored Daniel Cope and Collins. Senators outfielder Justin Connell hit his second homer of the twin-bill to make it a 3-2 game after two innings. Brenton Doyle homered for the Yard Goats to make it 4-3 in the third inning. However, Jake Alu belted a two-run homer off Hartford starter Trent Fennell to tie the game at 4-4 in the third. MacIver put the Yard Goats ahead with his one-out solo shot in the seventh.

In game one, Harrisburg cranked four homers to defeat Hartford 6-1. The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game on Michael Toglia’s sacrifice fly in the third inning. Hartford had the bases loaded in the second and third innings but stranded five men. Harrisburg got to starter Nick Bush in the fourth inning with a two-out rally. The lefty only allowed one hit over the first three innings, but Taylor Gushue hit a one-out homer to tie the game at 1-1 and KJ Harrison followed with a double. After Bush retired the next batter, Justin Connell belted a two-run homer, giving Harrisburg a 3-1 lead. Mitch Longo followed with a homer to make it 4-1.

The Yard Goats and Senators will play the fourth game of the six-game series on Friday night at 7:00 at FNB Field. RHP Noah Davis will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Cole Henry will start for the Senators. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9.
