(Hartford, CT) The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, announced its 2018 Opening Day Roster. 12 pitchers and 13 position players have been assigned to Hartford, including four of the Rockies top eight prospects listed by Baseball America and 10 of the Rockies top 26 prospects listed by MiLB.com. The Rockies #1 overall prospect, Infielder Brendan Rodgers has been assigned to Hartford to start the season along with RHP Peter Lambert (#5 prospect), RHP Ryan Castellani (#6 prospect), and INF Garrett Hampson (#8 prospect).   
In addition, the Yard Goats have three players on the Colorado Rockies 40-Man Major League roster (OF Yonathan Daza , C Chris Robago, RHP Jesus Tinoco ) and seven others invited to Major League Spring Training. The only player from the state of Connecticut is RHP Craig Schlitter who grew up in Guilford. Over the past two seasons, nine former Yard Goats have made their Major League debuts in Colorado.  
The Rockies set the roster and are responsible for all the player transactions during the season. The Yard Goats have nine players returning from last year's club, 13 players who are at the Double-A level for the first time and two players who are in their first year in the Rockies' system. The Yard Goats open the 2018 season next Thursday night (April 5) at 7:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

RHP Craig Schlitter (Guilford, CT native)
The 2018 season is Craig's fifth as a Colorado Rockies farmhand… Was born in Guilford, Connecticut which is 32 miles south of Hartford… Split last season between High-A Lancaster where he was a CAL All-Star and Hartford… Went 10-1 with a 2.50 ERA in 15 starts for JetHawks… Upon promotion, was leading CAL in wins and ERA and ranked 4th on circuit in innings (90.0) and BAA (.244)… Finished 1-3 with a 10.54 ERA in 9 games (8 starts) for Yard Goats in his first season in the Eastern League… Established career highs in wins, innings and strikeouts in his first season as a starting pitcher…
