Yard Goats Ramos Homers in 10th for Win
Harrisburg, PA- Roberto Ramos cranked a two-run home run in the 10th inning leading the Hartford Yard Goats to a 3-2 victory against the Harrisburg Senators on Saturday evening at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The Hartford first baseman connected on his 8th home run in just 19 games giving the Yard Goats their first win since the All-Star break. The Senators had runners at first and second base in the bottom of the 10th when closer Matt Pierpont picked off Raudy Read at second base to end the game and recorded his Eastern League leading 25th save. Yard Goats starting pitcher Ryan Castellani turned in a quality performance and allowed just one run over six innings but was not part of the decision. It was the Yard Goats third consecutive one-run game on City Island.
The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game for the third straight night in Harrisburg. Brian Mundell led off the fourth inning with a single, followed by a single by Dom Nuñez. Mundell took third base on a fielder's choice grounder by Brandon Bednar. With two outs, Ryan Metzler grounded a routine ball to second baseman Dan Gamache's but his throw to first was off line and Mundell scored giving the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead.
The Senators tied the game with a run in the sixth inning. Dan Gamache walked with one out and eventually scored on an RBI double by Jake Noll, tying the game at 1-1.
The Yard Goats wrap up the four game series against the Senators on Sunday afternoon (1:30 PM). RHP Rico Garcia will start for the Yard Goats while RHP Sterling Sharp will start for Harrisburg. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com. The Yard Goats will return to Dunkin' Donuts Park for their next homestand on Monday vs Reading at 7:05 PM.
