Hickory, NC- The Crawdads bats exploded Thursday night as they pounded the Kannapolis Intimidators 14-10.

The 'Dads took an early lead, getting a run across in the bottom of the first. Bubba Thompson led off the inning with a walk and got himself into scoring position with his 18th steal of the season. Yonny Hernandez grounded out but was able to advance Thompson to third. 'Dads RBI leader Ryan Dorow hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Thompson.
The Crawdads kept the offense rolling in the second inning, as Pedro Gonzalez and Tyreque Reed hit back-to-back homeruns to give the 'Dads a 3-0 lead. Yohel Pozo, Sam Huff, and Justin Jacobs drew consecutive walks to load the bases for Thompson. Thomspon singled, bringing in Pozo. Hernandez hit a ground ball to first that went under the first baseman's glove. Huff scored on the error. Preston Scott, the ninth batter of the inning, hit a two-run triple that extended the 'Dads lead to eight.
The Intimidators scored three runs in the third off 'Dads starter Reid Anderson to make the score 13-3.
The Crawdads responded with five more runs in the bottom half of the inning. Pozo started off the inning with a single. Huff smashed a two-run homerun over the left field fence, his tenth homer of the season. Thompson singled to center and Hernandez was hit by a pitch to put two runners on for the 'Dads. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and scored as Dorow doubled to left. Dorow scored the 'Dads 13th run of the night on a single by Pedro Gonzalez.
The teams traded runs in the fifth inning to make the score 14-4. The 'Dads run came as Preston Scott singled in Hernandez.
The Intimidators score two runs in the sixth and four more in the eighth to cut the 'Dads lead to four. The 'Dads held on to win 14-10.
The series will continue tomorrow night for Christmas in July. The Frans will turn into a winter wonderland, complete with decorations and music. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance for the 7pm game. The night will conclude with a fireworks show.
