Hickory, NC- The Hickory Crawdads have unveiled their 2018 promotional schedule featuring theme nights, giveaways, a name change, and 12 fireworks shows.
The schedule features nine giveaways: a magnet schedule giveaway on Opening Night, Thursday, April 12th (Absolute Tree Care,1290 WHKY), Poster Schedule giveaway on Saturday, April 14th (Baker Tire Center, Daniel Boone Inn, Lake Hickory Vet, Hickory Printing Solutions, Big Dawg 92.1), Crawmoms replica jersey giveaway on Saturday, May 12th (Pepsi), carnation giveaway to moms on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13th (Whitfields Flowers and More), hat giveaway on Saturday, May 26th (Sam's Xpress Car Wash, 1290 WHKY), tee shirt giveaway Saturday, June 23rd (Duck Graphics), drawstring bag giveaway on Saturday, June 30th (Blue Ridge Energies), a team card set giveaway on Saturday, September 1st, and a mystery MiLB item giveaway to close out the season on Monday, September 3rd. The mystery giveaway includes items that teams across Minor League Baseball have donated and include signed baseballs, bobbleheads, stadium replicas and various other items.
ZOOperstars! will be returning to the Frans this season for two appearances. Their first visit will be during Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday, May 26th (Whitfields Flowers & More and Big Dawg 92.1). They will also be performing on Saturday, August 25th (1250 WHKY). Birdzerk! Will also be making an appearance this season on Sunday, May 27th.
The two annual post-game Christian Concerts will return this season as well. Finding Favour will perform on Saturday, April 28th presented by 106.9 The Light and Sidewalk Prophets will perform on Saturday, July 21st presented by Gardner-Webb University and 106.9 The Light.
For the first time during their 26 year history, the Crawdads will be changing their name. On Mother's Day weekend (May 11th-May 13th) the team will be playing as the Hickory Crawmoms. They will wear pink Crawmoms jerseys and hats throughout the weekend featuring the specialty designed logos and wordmarks.
A minor league baseball promotional schedule wouldn't be complete without theme nights and the 2018 season has plenty. Returning fan favorites include Texas Rangers Night on Friday, April 13th (NC Pediatric Dentistry), NFL Draft Party on Thursday, April 26th, Disney Night with Enchanted Elegance Princesses on Friday, June 8th (Disney, Mann Travels, NC Pediatric Dentistry, Big Dawg 92.1), Halloween celebration on Friday, July 13th (Lake Hickory Haunts, Big Dawg 92.1), Christmas in July on Friday, July 20th, Superhero Night on Friday, August 10th (Children's Home Society of North Carolina, NC Pediatric Dentistry, 1290 WHKY), and Star Wars Night on Friday, August 24th (NC Pediatric Dentistry, Kicks 103.3). The season will also include new theme nights including: Dunder Mifflin Night on Thursday, May 10th, Tribute to Jim Carrey on Thursday May 24th, Grease 40th Anniversary Night on Thursday June 7th, Land Before Time Night on Saturday, June 9th (NC Pediatric Dentistry, Kicks 103.3), Margaritaville on Thursday, June 21st, Fact or Fiction Night on Monday, July 2nd, Sandlot 25th Anniversary Night on Thursday, July 12th, 90s Night on Saturday, August 11th, Backwards Night on Friday, August 31st (Big Dawg 92.1), and Little Rascals Night on Saturday, September 1st.
In addition to the specialty Crawmoms jerseys on Mother's Day weekend, the Crawdads will be wearing patriotic jerseys on Memorial Day, July 3rd, and Labor Day. The jerseys, presented by StratX, will be auctioned off on Labor Day and the proceeds will benefit the Disabled American Veterans.
The season will feature fireworks shows following every Friday game and also a show on the Crawdads Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd.
