Crawdads Hit Four Homers in 5-4 Win Over Augusta

Hickory, NC- The 'Dads won in walk-off fashion on Wednesday night as Chad Smith led off the bottom of the ninth with a homerun. The 5-4 victory gives the Crawdads the series win over the visiting Augusta GreenJackets.

Pedro Gonzalez put the 'Dads ahead 1-0 with a solo homerun to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The GreenJackets tied things up in the top of the fifth with a run off Crawdads starter Hans Crouse.
The Crawdads took back the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Chris Seise singled and advanced to second on a groundout by Jonathan Ornelas. Curtis Terry hit his eighth double of the season to bring Seise around to score.
Crouse finished the evening after six innings, striking out four and walking three. He allowed six hits.
The 'Dads extended the lead to two runs as Gonzalez hit his second homerun of the night. Gonzalez finished the evening 3-3 with a walk.
The GreenJackets erased the Crawdads lead in the eighth, scoring three runs to pull ahead 4-3.
The 'Dads offense fought back as Sam Huff crushed a ball to dead center in the bottom of the inning that tied the game up at four.
Chad Smith sent the 'Dads home winners with a lead-off homerun to right field. The homer was Smith's second of the season and the Crawdads fourth of the night. The victory is the team's second walk-off of the year.
Tomorrow night at the Frans the Crawdads will begin a four-game series against the Lakewood BlueClaws. The 'Dads will be celebrating the NFL Draft and fans who wear NFL apparel will receive a discounted $6 ticket. It is also Thirsty Thursday which means the Crawdads will have discounted beers and Pepsi products thanks to Sheetz and Focus News. Salute to Scrubs continues tomorrow and all medical professionals can receive a free ticket to the game. Family and friends can purchase discounted $6 tickets.
