Team USA to Play Cuba at the Frans

Hickory, NC- The Hickory Crawdads are thrilled to announce that LP Frans Stadium will play host to a game between the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and the Cuban National Team on July 2nd. The game, presented by Big Dawg 92.1, KICKS 103.3, and WHKY 1290 AM and 102.3 FM, is set for 7pm and will feature a post-game fireworks show.
Tickets are on sale now for the matchup at hickorycrawdads.com. The Crawdads will have both concession stands, the Catawba Farms Crawdads Café, and amusements open during the game.
This year will be the 8th Annual USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series. After a 16 year hiatus, the two teams resumed the friendly series in 2013 with a five game series in Havana.
Team USA is 19-15 overall against Cuba in the series since 2013. They have won five of the seven series, including the past four in a row.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team is made up of the top non-draft-eligible college players from across the United States. Current Major League baseball players that have played for the Collegiate National Team include Jake Arrieta,
The July 2nd game will be the second time the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team has played in Hickory. The other was July 1st, 2013 in a matchup against the Catawba Valley Stars. Team USA defeated the Catawba Valley Stars 9-2.
