Hops Nominated for John H. Johnson President's Award

October 6, 2014

Hillsboro, OR - The Hillsboro Hops have been selected by the members of the Northwest League as the league's nominee for the John H Johnson President's Award. The President's Award is presented annually by Minor League Baseball to the franchise that best exhibits stability, contributions to its community and league, and promotion of the baseball industry.

"We are very gratified and humbled to be the Northwest League's nominee for this prestigious award," stated Hops' general manager KL Wombacher. "We appreciate the recognition of our league partners of the hard work of our ownership, management and staff to create a strong, thriving franchise over the course of the years."

Since moving to Hillsboro for the 2013 season, the team has become an integral part of the community far beyond the baseball field. In turn, this emphasis on community engagement has resulted in very impressive attendance figures for the Hops. More than 135,000 fans have passed through the Ron Tonkin Field turnstiles in both 2013 and 2014, with the team ranking third in NWL attendance each year.

The winner from among the 14 minor league nominees will be announced at the 2014 Baseball Winter Meetings to be held in San Diego. The meetings will run from December 7 through 11.
